Having graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1999 Dr Rasul has worked as a psychiatrist in the West of Scotland for over 20 years, with fourteen years at consultant level. Dr Rasul is currently working as a consultant in NHS Forth Valley, having previously worked for 12 years in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. He is experienced in the assessment and management of common and severe mental health disorders; including psychosis, depression, anxiety, memory problems and dementia, as well as complex presentations of dementia. His consultant experience has been in the community, inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr Rasul was born and bred in the UK. He studied medicine at Glasgow University, graduating in 1999. He undertook his psychiatry training in the West of Scotland and has a special interest in medical education. Dr Rasul has been the postgraduate education course director for West of Scotland Psychiatry for the last 10 years, working closely with young training doctors in psychiatry, helping shape their educational development. Dr Rasul has been invited to chair and speak at national conferences on subjects including ECT, depression, occupational burnout and capacity issues.
