Professor Khan has special expertise in older adults, dementia in all ages, and memory and cognitive impairment. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist by profession and works in the NHS, and also has independent practice. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Chester. Professor Khan has an
expertise in the areas of general psychiatry, older adults, mental capacity, and a number of psychiatric disorders, such as psychosis, depression, anxiety, phobias, dementia, and bipolar disorders to name a few. Professor Khan also specialises in complex Court of Protection cases and Mental Capacity issues in patients with dementia, delirium, learning disability and other mental health presentations. He also has expertise in asylum and deportation related matters which pose a significant challenge to the individuals involved.
Professor Khan has many years of experience in writing medical expert reports for NHS England, General Medical Council, General Dental Council and other medicolegal bodies. He has experience in giving evidence and writing reports as an expert in matters relating to occupational health, fitness to practice, fitness to plead/give evidence in court, and similar litigation matters.
